Terms and Conditions

  • Hostel Cosmos Amsterdam has a policy of pre-authorising your credit card in order to secure the reservation. We do this prior to your arrival date to ensure that the card is still valid and that it has sufficient credit to cover the reservation. After check-in the establishment will release the amount pre-authorised on your credit card.
  • Please note that you must provide us with a valid credit card within 24 hours otherwise we can’t guarantee your reservation is valid. This way you risk to lose your bed or room.
  • As mentioned in our terms and conditions, the credit card will only be charged in case of a No Show or late cancellation.
  • When you arrive, you can pay in cash the amount that is left to pay, including the 5% city tax.
  • We have a maximum stay of 4 nights
  • We don’t accept groups bigger than 6 persons. For exceptions you can e-mail us at info @ hostelcosmos.com. Please mention dates, number of people, mixed group (male/female?), age range, room type preference and purpose of the trip. Then we will reply to you personally with an offer for your group.
  • Prices do not include the 5% city tax. Please note that 5% tourist tax needs to be paid on the top of the balance on arrival.
  • Please note you will have to pay in cash upon arrival as we do not accept credit cards, ATM’s and banks are a short walk away.
  • Please note that your full balance due is payable on arrival and non-refundable.
  • All nights of accommodation must be paid for on arrival or no later than 21:00 hours.
  • If you are more than one hour late with out advising the hostel it will be presumed that you are not arriving.
  • In case the guest or the one responsible for the booking, does not pay the amount in cash due on arrival, we are forced to charge the amount from the given credit card(s). The charge will include the amount still to pay on arrival, city tax and other costs of merchant or bank.
  • Please note that cancellation must occur 72 hours before the check-in date and any booking cancelled after this time will be subject to a No-Show fee equivalent to your stay.
  • Please note that in case of a No-Show you will no longer have a room or bed at Hostel Cosmos Amsterdam. In case of a No-Show the booking will be subject to a No-Show fee equivalent to your stay.
  • In case of changes concerning your booking(s), we are forced to cancel the previous booking and make a new booking(s). Any paid commissions or fees to third parties will not be part of the new booking(s).
  • Checking out or leaving before your actual date of check out, does not give the right of any refund of payment(s).
  • Checking out or leaving before your actual date of check out, will result in losing your bed(s) or room(s).
  • In case of general damage, disturbance, violence, pollution, damage to our property, we will report to the police and charge all costs by using your credit card.
  • On arrival it is not possible to cancel your booking.
  • In case of a booking for more than 1 person, you should be aware that booker is responsible for the total amount payable upon arrival.
  • This means that in case one of your friends doesn’t come along or doesn’t arrive, you will have to pay the full amount for all days and loose the bed for the remaining day(s).
  • Our hostel is also the permanent residence of Simba, the house cat. Any guest who may be allergic to cats should be mindful of this before booking their stay with us here at Amsterdam Hostel Cosmos.
  • If you are more than one hour late with out advising the hostel it will be presumed that you are not arriving.
  • To preserve and maintain our laid-back & smooth atmosphere we do not allow: Persons under 18 years of age or above 40 years, pets, any bookings of stag nights, hen nights or sport tours, soccer fans for (inter)national matches. Read the above carefully because in the event of a false booking, there will be no check in nor will there be a refund.
  • We make every effort to accommodate you in the dormitory size of your choice. However, because of the nature of our business, we may have to place you in a different sized dormitory. As a result the balance to be paid upon arrival can be slightly different than what is stated on your confirmation.
  • After making the reservation you will receive an e-mail with your booking details and confirmation number. Make sure you bring this confirmation with you to the hostel. Otherwise reservation confusion will be at your own responsibility.
  • If you do not receive this confirmation from us you do not have a booking!

Note: The Cosmos Management & Staff reserve the right to refuse accommodation to anyone. Please note that there is a minimum 2 night stay at the weekend, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
