It’s the holiday season and your family is planning to take a trip. It’s no ordinary trip as you would be visiting the largest city and the capital of Netherlands, Amsterdam.Amsterdam is in the province of North Holland in the west of the country.Although it is the financial capital of the country, it is also the cultural capital. What this means is that even if Amsterdam is advanced city, it is able to preserve a lot of its cultural structures.Truly a lovely place to visit! There are a lot of attractions to see, museums to visit, food to try, pubs to experience, and a whole new culture to embrace.

So on your trip to Amsterdam you have to be prepared and remember these tips:

Remember to: make an adjustable itinerary.

Especially when you only have a few days to visit, it is best to make an itinerary for you and your group.List down the places you want to visit per day and make sure you try as much as you can to follow the schedule. It would be good to make an itinerary that is adjustable, one where you can extend your stay on a museum for example as the next stop is a restaurant where you don’t need to hurry to reach a closing time.Give each member of your entourage a copy of your itinerary so everyone is aware of the schedule.

Remember to: wear the proper attire

Wear clothing that is fit for traveling. Comfortable, cotton, and easy to manage clothing would be the clothing of choice.Big groups, especially those with children, would sometimes have a color coded attire for easy spotting amidst a crowd. For example, your group would all be wearing a red shirt to make it easier to follow and see each other.Proper attire would also include wearing comfortable shoes. If your day would be comprised of walking, wear comfortable rubber shoes to keep your feet from aching.Bring an extra shirt if you have to. Children most especially would be needing at least 1 set of extra clothing.

Remember to: bring a map.

Especially when you are travelling without a local guide, it would be best for you to get a map and to get a look at it before you even leave for your destination.Getting lost would take up a lot of your time so better prepare for it and bring yourself a map.

Remember to: get a card from your hotel.

One important tip before leaving your hotel is to ask for a calling card at the front desk. The hotel’s card would have its address and telephone number on it.Most of the time, a map would also be drawn at the back of the card. This way, if ever you get lost, you would be able to explain to a taxi driver or a local where you have to go.Give each member of your family a card just in case.

These are the top most important things to remember when planning your trip to Amsterdam or any place for that matter.Take note of each reminder and have a blast on your vacation!
